An ammonia nitrogen (NH₃–N) sensor measures the concentration of ammonia present in water. Ammonia is one of the most important parameters in water quality monitoring because it is a key indicator of biological activity, waste accumulation, and water treatment efficiency.

A Total Suspended Solids (TSS) sensor measures the concentration of solid particles suspended in water. These particles can include organic matter, sediments, algae, bacteria, and other microscopic debris that do not dissolve but remain suspended in the liquid.

TSS monitoring is widely used in wastewater treatment, aquaculture, industrial process water, environmental monitoring, and irrigation systems, because suspended solids strongly affect water clarity, biological processes, and filtration performance.

Salinity and conductivity sensors are among the most widely used instruments in environmental monitoring, oceanography, aquaculture, industrial process control, and water quality management. Though the two measurements — salinity and conductivity — are distinct concepts, they are deeply interrelated. In practice, salinity is almost always derived from a conductivity measurement rather than measured directly. Understanding how these sensors work requires a look at the underlying physics of electrical conduction in water, the engineering of the sensor itself, and the mathematics that ties conductivity to salinity.

Dissolved ozone sensors are specialized instruments designed to measure the concentration of ozone (O₃) in water. Ozone is a strong oxidant widely used in water treatment, aquaculture, food processing, and industrial applications to disinfect water, remove contaminants, and improve water quality. Accurate measurement of dissolved ozone is critical to ensure both effectiveness and safety, because ozone can be harmful at high concentrations.

They’re closely related.
They are often displayed side-by-side.
But they are not the same thing.
